Using Google Analytics
Posted by: | CommentsOne of the things I’ve learned is the need to understand your business metrics. First on traffic, then on conversions to sales.
How much traffic are you getting?
How many pages are being visited? How long are people staying on the site?
Where is the traffic coming from?
All these insights can be gained free using Google Analytics.
Here’s a screen shot from Google Analytics for this blog – just 1 week after adding the code to the site.
In the top image you see the chart of visitors and at the bottom are the # of visitors, page views etc.
Below you see the pie chart showing traffic sources and a listing alongside with specific web pages referring traffic.
So now you can see what’s working and tweak your marketing accordingly.
Even though this is a relatively new blog, I’m getting 2.4 pages per visit and over 6 minutes per person on the site.
How I’m Driving Traffic To This Blog (Update #1)
Posted by: | CommentsSo how do you drive traffic? Here’s what I’m doing…use these techniques yourself to build your business blog.
First of all I’m writing fresh content about my personal experiences and real life results with my online businesses. Then after each post I’m “pinging” my new blog page to make sure it gets noticed by the search engines.Next I’ve linked my blog to the network of students who are in Alex Jeffreys’ “Marketing With Alex” coaching.
Today I’ve also begun adding comments to selected posts from other students creating links back to this blog.
I only added Google Analytics to the blog on May 10th. Today (2 days later) I’ve had 5 visitors to the site (http://www-internetmarketingblog.com) with 13 page views and an average of 2.6 pages per visit.
